Early years
My first computer was a VIC-20 in 1982, followed by the C64 and later the Amiga. Those machines set the tone. Having fun learning assembly language, running a BBS on XenoLink and first contact with Internet in 1989. I moved through generations of systems, installing whatever I could get hold of and seeing what was possible.
Away from the screen, I was outdoors with family sailing, fishing, fossil hunting and just enjoying the Swedish archipelagos.
Education
MSc in Cognitive Science at Linköping University, with a focus on artificial intelligence, complex adaptive systems, and the computational foundations of cognition. It was an interdisciplinary program where neuropsychology, algorithms, and system design naturally intersected — understanding both how humans think and how intelligent systems are built. I spent a year in the UK as an Erasmus student and additional summers in the United States.
My thesis explored an RFID-based pick-and-drop interface for collaborative work — physical objects interacting with distributed digital systems, long before mobile ecosystems became mainstream.
Professional path
I began in information engineering and technical writing, working with structured documentation and early enterprise systems. At Siemens Medical Solutions I moved into software localisation, coordinating between European and American teams on large healthcare platforms in the United States.
Back in Sweden, my focus shifted toward content management and enterprise information structure — taxonomy, governance and long-term maintainability. From there, the work evolved naturally into enterprise search and information retrieval across the Nordics.
Over time this led into search architecture and secure logging environments — first SharePoint and FAST-based platforms, later Elasticsearch and large-scale systems in regulated industries. The consistent thread has been structuring complex information so it remains searchable, reliable and usable.
Between 2015 and 2018 I ran a small consulting company, Realys, taking on technical owner and specialist roles in enterprise environments, both directly and through brokers.
Travel
We enjoy travelling — Europe, the U.S., South Africa, Japan and beyond. New cities, long walks, good food. A different pace from the screen, and usually a reminder that the world is both larger and smaller than you think.
